Decrypt reports that from October 27-29, the second annual Film3 Summit will be held in Los Angeles, emphasising the role of blockchain technology in the entertainment industry. The Squad, a core collective of Film3 devotees established by filmmaker Jordan Bayne, will organise the event, which will take place at the Famecast offices in Santa Monica. The Squad argues in favour of implementing decentralised tools in order to establish a film production and distribution framework that is more financially viable, accessible, and equitable.

Panel discussions and fireside conversations will be held at the Film3 Summit to address a wide range of subjects pertaining to the present condition of the entertainment sector and the endeavour to disrupt it. Rachel Winter, the Oscar-nominated producer of "Dallas Buyers Club," Miguel Faus, writer and director of the forthcoming NFT-funded film "The Quiet Maid," actor Laurence Fuller, and Leo Matchett, co-founder and CEO of Decentralised Pictures, a nonprofit organisation committed to utilising blockchain technology to revolutionise film financing, will be among the participants in the three-day festival's programming.

The companion event to this year's summit, the MetaFilm3 Fest, will be conducted exclusively online. A global audience-accessible pop-up streaming event similar to Netflix, MetaFilm3, will be enabled by the decentralised video streaming protocol Theta. The one-week-long virtual festival, which is scheduled to commence on October 27, will feature numerous panels, the world premieres of several films, and the debuts of others on blockchain-backed platforms. Theta's on-chain technology will facilitate the festival's secure streaming of films to registered attendees via NFT permits, priced at $30 per pass.
