TC Energy Said The Keystone Pipeline Rupture's Cause Is Unknown

TC Energy (NYSE:TRP) of Canada stated on Sunday that it has not yet established the source of the Keystone oil pipeline leak that occurred last week in the United States, nor has it provided a schedule for when the pipeline would resume operation.
Wednesday, more than 14,000 barrels of crude oil leaked into a stream in Kansas, making it one of the worst crude oil disasters in the United States in over a decade.
"Our teams continue to examine the incident's root cause. We have not verified a schedule for resuming service and will only do so when it is safe to do so and with the regulator's clearance, "TC said in a website-posted statement.
The pipeline operator stated that it has more than 250 employees working on the leak, including environmental professionals from a third party, and that it is regularly monitoring air quality and there are currently no indicators of bad health or public concerns.
TC said that crews are also prepared for rain expected to begin on Monday.
The 622,000-barrel-per-day Keystone pipeline is a vital conduit for transporting heavy Canadian petroleum from Alberta to Midwest and Gulf Coast refineries.
The closure of the Keystone pipeline will impede delivery of Canadian oil to the U.S. storage center in Cushing, Oklahoma and to the Gulf, where it is refined or exported.
