The Bank of Japan (BoJ) said that Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda will speak and hold a press conference in the central Japanese city of Nagoya on Monday, and markets will closely watch the event for information on whether a rate hike may be possible next month.

It will be Ueda's first public appearance since Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election on November 5, as Japan's third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) data showed the surprising resilience of consumption.

The governor will speak and take questions from business executives from 10:00 to 11:30am (0100-0230GMT), followed by a press conference from 1:45 to 2:15pm (0445-0515GMT), the central government bank said on Friday .

The BOJ president visits Osaka and Nagoya every year to exchange views with business executives and explain the rationale behind the central bank's monetary policy decisions.

Ueda's comments will be closely watched by markets for clues on how soon the Bank of Japan will raise interest rates, with analysts divided over whether a rate hike would come in December or January.

The Bank of Japan ended negative interest rates in March and raised short-term policy rates to 0.25% in July as the country is on the verge of achieving its 2% inflation target on a sustained basis.
